Set-up in 2000, Kohinoor Foods Inc. today is an organization with global manufacturing and marketing capabilities. With a strong and dynamic brand ‘Kohinoor’ the company’s portfolio includes basmati rice, convenience foods, food compliments and food ingredients.

The parent company, Kohinoor Foods Ltd is the leading basmati rice player in India. Our flagship brand “Kohinoor” is the largest selling brand of basmati rice with over 38% market share. Our distribution network is extensive, to say the least, and unmatched by any of our competitors. Our products are retailed in India in more than 200 thousand outlets, and serviced by a strong network of more than 100 super distributors and 600 stockists.

We are also one of the largest players in the arena of basmati rice exports. Our focus has always been to expand the penetration of Kohinoor to all parts of the world. With a dedicated distribution base, Kohinoor today is available in more than 60 countries. Having entered the mainstream markets of United States, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates, Kohinoor has truly emerged as the only Indian ‘Global Basmati Brand’.

We have a very strong Quality Control Culture with dedicated and fully equipped QC centers and micro-biological labs. Our manufacturing and processing facility is HACCP and ISO 9001:2000 certified, US-FDA & FSA compliant and Kosher Certified.

Our foray into the convenience foods in the year 2003 marks a significant step up for the organization. This value-added segment represents a tremendous growth opportunity, what with the ready-to-eat market expected to grow to Rs. 3 billion in India by 2008. Apart from the domestic market, the global market is expected to grow manifold in the years to come, owing to growing popularity of Indian food.

Our product portfolio encompasses a wide range of authentic Indian curries (Heat & Eat Curries!), ready meals (Rice & Curry!), ready to eat gourmet rice preparations (Rice Treat!), Cook-in Sauces, Cooking Pastes, Chutney, Poppadums, Exotic Indian Spices and Seasonings.

The plant at Bahalgarh, Haryana is built to meet the most discerning standards anywhere in the World. The plant is HACCP certified, BRC and ISO 9001:2000 certified for its adherence to prescribed quality norms.

Today, Kohinoor Foods Ltd. has emerged as an enterprise with very strong and dynamic fundamentals with the Company’s annual turnover standing at an impressive Rs. 5500 million.

We have emerged as a strong global player in the food business with footprints across the world. We have two wholly owned subsidiaries - Indo European Foods Limited in U.K. and Kohinoor Foods Inc. in the United States. We also have a joint venture company, Rich Rice Factory L.L.C. in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

All three operations are strategically located to give us the desired competitive edge to cater to global business needs. Additionally, we have developed global manufacturing capabilities with the newly set up rice plant at the port city of Felixtowe in the UK, and a small rice processing plant at Dubai through our joint venture.

Our flagship brand ‘Kohinoor’, renowned world over for authentic and quality food offerings, has become our corporate identity. With the rechristening to Kohinoor Foods Limited, we will be able to communicate our ever evolving business domain that has moved away from commodity to foods, more effectively to all our stakeholders. Though we have changed our name, our commitment to the enterprise remains the same.

Kohinoor Foods has recently added frozen foods to its ever expanding business segments. The portfolio in frozen foods include: gourmet ready meals, snacks (samosas, vada, aloo bonda, dosa, idli etc.), traditional Indian breads like naans, parathas, kulchas and frozen vegetables etc. With this the company has now developed an enviable portfolio of food products ranging from staples (basmati rice), convenience foods (ready to eat curries, ready meals, cook-in sauces and cooking pastes etc.) and spices & seasonings along with the newly started frozen foods. All these products form a complete food basket for connoisseurs of consumers across the world.

  • First advertising campaign on national television, using celebrities; brand endorsement by the reigning Bollywood Queen ‘Ms. Sharmila Tagore’ with former Indian Cricket Captain Mr. M.A.K. Pataudi
